TechnoKids Computer Curriculum
Over the years, technology became more
affordable. Schools were installing computer
labs, school districts and Boards of
Education were drafting technology
standards, and teachers were struggling to
integrate the use of computers into
curriculum. There was a growing need for
quality instructional materials designed
specifically for schools.
In 1997, TechnoKids Inc., partnered with
John Knox Christian School (JKCS)
in Oakville, Ontario, to develop computer
curriculum for schools. At first, TechnoKids
staff taught the computer classes. This
allowed the curriculum development team to
modify the instructional materials to suit a
school environment. Later, the JKCS teachers
taught their own computer classes.
Today, TechnoKids Inc. still has an
office at JKCS. There is a window that
divides the office from the computer lab.
This allows the curriculum development team
to observe daily, children learning from
activities that are part of the TechnoKids
Computer Curriculum. It is this close
connection with teachers and students that
help to make the instructional materials
easy to use.
